The importance of parental involvement is higher now than ever before. In the past, parental involvement was seen as a very important factor in education. However, in recent years parental involvement has decreased, and the effects are very evident. Studies have shown that students whose parents are more involved in their education are more likely to have fewer behavioral problems and better academic performances. Those students with involved parents also are more likely to graduate from high school than those students whose parents don’t get involved. Both mothers and fathers have an impact on their child’s education when they get involved, but studies have shown that fathers have more of an impact than mothers (Parent Involvement in Schools). Since fathers tend to be looked up to more and seen as an authority figure, the students, both male and female,  have a tendency to take more notice in the things that they do and say.
